Q: When is the retreat?
A: Sunday, October 18th through Tuesday, October 20th. Plan to arrive on Sunday in time for our reception which begins at 5pm. Tuesday's breakfast is informal; you may depart at any time that day.
Q: Who is eligible to attend the retreat?
A: Any NFIB Member who is a Leadership Trust Platinum, Gold, or Silver member, plus 1 guest, is eligible to attend.
Q: Is there a fee to attend?
A: No, there is no fee to attend the Fall Retreat. Any NFIB Leadership Trust Platinum, Gold, or Silver member is invited to attend with 1 guest.
Q: What is included?
A: Hotel accommodations (room/tax for one room each night) at our host hotel for the nights of Sunday, October 18th, and Monday, October 19th, are included for each NFIB Leadership Trust Platinum, Gold, or Silver member (including your guest, if applicable). Platinum members are invited to stay one additional night, Saturday, October 17th, and to attend the Sunday morning Platinum Brunch. Also included is a tour at Mount Vernon including lunch, the group meals at the hotel (Sunday evening, Monday and Tuesday breakfasts), and the Monday evening offsite dinner at Cooper Mill.
Q: Do I need to make a hotel reservation?
A: No, NFIB will make your reservation. If you plan to extend your stay (either before or after the program), please indicate that during the registration process. Additional nights will be at your own expense. The NFIB group rate is $254.00 per night plus taxes and is based on availability. However, shoulder date rates could be much higher and/or the hotel may be sold out during this very busy time of the year in Alexandria.
Q: What is the host hotel?
A: The Hotel Heron, located at 699 Prince Street, Alexandria, VA 22314. Check-in is 3:00pm and check-out is at 12:00pm. Luggage storage is available.
Q: Is there a deadline to register for the Fall Retreat?
A: Yes, please complete your registration by Friday, July 17th.
Q: How do I get to the retreat?
A: You can fly or drive to Alexandria. The closest airport is Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA). If you are flying, we suggest you take a taxi or ride share (Uber or Lyft) from the airport to the hotel. If you are renting a car at the airport, plan to wait at least one hour to retrieve a rental car. If you are driving to Alexandria, valet parking is offered at a rate of $45 per night plus tax and is not an NFIB covered expense.
Q: What is the attire?
A: Dinners are business casual. Breakfasts and our Monday excursion are casual. Special note: For the tour at Mt. Vernon, be “weather aware for what to wear.” We recommend wearing comfortable, closed-toe shoes and dressing in layers (with a light jacket or raincoat).
Q: What are the excursions?
A: We will be going to Mount Vernon, the home of the nation's first President, George Washington. Included is a tour of the mansion, the grounds, and lunch.
